Dr. Baum commonly uses our office's diode laser to treat the gum tissues. Prior to any procedure with the diode laser, you may receive local anesthesia to help make the process more comfortable. Energy from the laser will be released in short pulses during the process, which should shorten the duration of the treatment. The innovative technology is mild and should generate less pain and discomfort during and following your treatment. After any procedure with a diode laser, you may experience inflamed or tender gums, but bleeding will be minimal, and there typically isn't any need for stitches. If you're in discomfort following your procedure, Dr. Baum may prescribe pain medication or give you nonprescription pain relievers to help. He will also provide you with detailed aftercare instructions so you can take care of your gums between appointments.
